Job Description

POSITION: Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning Mechanic

National Maintenance provider to Fortune 500 companies. Company benefits include excellent working conditions, paid holidays and vacations, medical/dental insurance, 401K. We are seeking candidates to support our client in the Bay Area.

Repairs and maintains mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems, as well as performs general building maintenance. Expected to use tools, meters and other necessary equipment to repair equipment and diagnose problems.

Will work on heating, ventilating air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, which consist of rooftop package systems, temperature and humidity controls and VAV boxes at the facilities. In addition, candidates should be familiar with the maintenance of AC variable speed drives and energy management systems.

Will work on heating and air-conditioning systems that consist of many mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, such as motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches. HVAC technicians must be able to maintain, diagnose, and correct problems throughout the entire system. To do this, HVAC technicians must adjust system controls to recommended settings and test the performance of the entire system using special tools and test equipment.

When heating and air-conditioning equipment breaks down, HVAC technicians must diagnose the problem and make repairs within prescribed limits and notify supervisor when a contractor is needed. Will use hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, soldering equipment, pressure gages, just to name a few.

Must perform the same duties as the Industrial Equipment Repairers when not performing Preventive Maintenance or the repairs described above

Wear appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures.

Utilize computerized Asset Management System (EAM) to receive, record hours worked and complete work orders. Completes daily timesheets and other paperwork as it relates to the job (PM's, CM's, BSR's)

Communicates with other mechanics, client representatives and site manager. Good spoken, reading and written English skills are required.

Entry Level Job Requirements:

Training through classroom instruction and a 2-year apprenticeship program, technician must hold an EPA 608 Universal (Type I, Type II & Type III) certification.

Meet all local electrical certification requirements and four to five years of training through apprenticeship programs that combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction. The classroom instruction must include certified training on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E "Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace". Each Craft B technician must carry on his or her person while at a Facility the certification showing proof of meeting the requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E "Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace".

Equipment Type other than HVAC:

Conveyors, Hydraulic Lifts, Overhead Doors (minor repairs), Dock Levelers, Lighting, Substations, Generators, Distribution Panels, Motor Control Centers, and other similar items
