Job Description

Enica Engineering is looking for a 8-15 years experience professionally licensed mechanical engineer to perform project development, HVAC/controls system design and project management for HVAC infrastructure improvement, controls system upgrades, and energy conservation focused projects for the institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, university and industrial markets.

Core Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-15 years' experience in HVAC design for institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, university and/or industrial markets (residential experience not preferred)
  • Has implemented a majority of designs and recommendations through construction administration or owner's representation of that project
  • Project management abilities
  • PE license
  • CEM, CBCP, and/or CEA certification is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making capabilities
  • Ability to absorb information quickly
  • Strong time management skills

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in the identification, development and construction of an energy conservation project, or been involved in one or more aspects of the projects cycle.
  • Design experience or familiarity with the specification of systems including, but not limited to: (listed in order of importance to us)
    • Control systems and instrumentation
      • This includes development of detailed sequence of operations (central chiller plant, central boiler plant, large central air handlers, primary/secondary pumps, etc), specification of control devices/sensors, PID drawings, etc
      • Should be familiar (not write program) with the programming language of few major controls manufacturer (Siemens, Andover, Johnson, Automated Logic, Allerton, etc)
      • Air distribution systems
      • Central cooling plants including centrifugal chillers, water and air cooled screw chillers, scroll chillers, cooling towers, CHW/CW distribution pumping
      • Central boiler/cogen plants including firetube boilers, watertube boilers, condensing boilers, reciprocating engines, gas turbines, HRSGs, hot water distribution, steam distribution
  • Troubleshooting and construction support of systems that were designed

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage team and be primary lead on mechanical engineering design for all phases of the design process
  • Manage and be primary lead on producing construction documents (drawings and specifications)
  • Document design narratives and engineering analysis
  • Provide construction administration services
  • Provide technical oversight of construction implementation of project
  • Use experience, field test equipment and analytical tools to independently evaluate complex HVAC and building automation systems
  • Perform QA/QC processes as needed
  • Conduct site visits to collect data from facilities
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Participate in sales and technical presentations at all levels (C-suite to operations staff)
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under aggressive deadlines
  • Ensure timely delivery of reports and other deliverable
  • Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phase
  • Ensure client/customer satisfaction
  • Sales and client development a plus

Computer Proficiency Requirements:

  • Software: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and at least one energy modeling software platform such as DOE2, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience a plus.
  • Networking: Ideal candidates would be familiar with the fundamentals of network communication and be familiar with MSTP and IP protocols, preferably BACnet.
  • Programming: Applicants with familiarity with the programming language of few major controls manufacturer (Siemens, Andover, Johnson, Automated Logic, Allerton, etc) a plus
